I stay strongly non-political. I want everyone to come to class and not feel excluded in any way. I never share my political views in class, openly or subliminally or in any other way. The interaction between yoga student and yoga teacher is a very fragile, delicate one. You wouldn't want your therapist telling you their political views. The point of yoga is a connection. This is how I speak of the current situation.
Ahimsa: Reverence to all beings in all thoughts, words, and actions.
Satya: Truthfulness. "Sat-" literally means upright, and extends to a practitioner's integrity in every thought, word, and action. I teach these through asana strictly. Referencing the state of mind, quality of breath, sustainability, etc.
Loving Kindness: Such meditation techniques are beyond effective. I have been finishing class with the following:
May all beings be happy,
May all beings be healthy,
May all beings be safe,
May all beings live with ease,
May all beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering.
