300 HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING POLICIES
Application Process: Trainees are required to submit a completed Down Under School of Yoga Teacher Training application, a copy of their 200 hour teacher training certificate of completion (or explanation of equivalent experience), and a $500 non-refundable deposit. Upon acceptance, trainees will be expected to pay remaining balance or submit a credit card for payment plan prior to the start of the training.
Admission Criteria: Applicants must have graduated from a 200-hour Teacher Training program or demonstrate an equivalent experience. Students must have completed The Art of Assisting Weekend (offered several times each year) at Down Under before the training begins or by the end of April. Students demonstrating equivalent experience and wishing to be exempt from this prerequisite must make this request of the program director prior to the start of the training.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: A completed application and $500 deposit are required to secure space in the training. The balance of tuition ($3300, $3400, or $3500 depending on date of enrollment) may either be paid in full before the program begins or by a payment plan. If a student is not accepted into the program for any reason, the $500 deposit will be refunded. No refunds will be made once the program begins, and payment plans must be paid in full even if a student withdraws from the program.
Grievance Policy: If a trainee has a grievance and believes that her/his rights have been violated, a written complaint must be submitted to the studio Director, who has one week to determine next steps. Down Under School of Yoga reserves the right to ask any student to leave the program if their behavior is inappropriate or unethical. Under such circumstances, tuition will not be refunded.
Trainee Expectations and Training Completion Requirements: In order to receive a Certificate of Completion, trainees must attend all of the weekend sessions (with make-ups allowed as described below) and pay tuition in full. In addition, trainees must complete the prerequisite Art of Assisting weekend, teach one Karma Yoga class, complete the Mentorship requirement with a Down Under faculty member, teach one Community Class, complete all final weekend practicum requirements, and maintain a consistent yoga asana practice under the supervision of the Down Under faculty. (At a minimum students must attend 30 classes with Down Under faculty.) Attendance and payment of tuition alone do not guarantee students will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Attendance/Makeup Policy: Trainees are allowed to miss up to 3 out of 12 weekends but will need to make up those missed days. For every full day missed, the student may take a 1 hour private make-up session to be scheduled with the Teacher Training Manager. The cost of each 1 hour make-up session (for a 7 hour day) is $150, or $75 if the make-up is shared with another student. Students cannot receive a Certificate of Completion if they miss more than 54 hours of the training.
