Iyengar I teaches basic standing and seated poses, twists, forward bends, and teachers present one pose at a time offering detailed instructions about alignment. This methodical, unhurried approach allows students to learn to do each pose properly and safely, and to use props to effectively modify for injuries or limitations.
Gentle Yoga allows both new and experienced students to learn poses postures and breathing at a slower pace. Poses are taught in a methodical manner, using yoga props as needed to help gently stretch, strengthen, balance and energize. This class may be helpful to new students with minimal flexibility to learn to move with greater ease, students recovering from illness or injury and mothers returning after pregnancy.
Relax & Renew and Restorative is a restful class offering gentle movement and stretching with long holds and a quiet breath. Restorative classes spend long holds in well-supported poses, visiting 4-5 poses during the class.
