Julia Celebrates Her Milestone

When people ask me what I do for work, I tell them I’m a yoga teacher, that I teach yoga classes six days a week, and that it's not just a career, but my life path. My first class at age 16, was on a hot summer evening before high school – a Baptiste class at the Cambridge studio taught by Gregor. I was just amazed at how Gregor taught such an intense class with a mix of kindness, warmth and humor (and he still does 10 years later!).

Many years of practice and teacher training later, I remain deeply in love with the creative, dynamic, and joy-filled process of teaching yoga. I knew I wanted to teach yoga after graduating from college, but didn't think I could support myself. Upon joining Down Under I was finally able to follow my passion and realize my dream of teaching full time. The poet Mary Oliver asks “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Seeking answers to this question has been a mantra for me and I finally feel satisfied with my answer: I plan to continue to grow and evolve as a teacher, student, and warrior of love and feel so fortunate to be on Down Under’s teaching faculty, with access to mentorship, healthcare, and supportive management.

Danielle Adds Her Thoughts:

After calling Down Under my yoga home for the past few years, I am so grateful to officially be full time and benefited at the studio I truly love. My work at Down Under is such an incredible joy for me. Each day I have the opportunity to connect with bodywork clients and students of all ages and continue to learn from some of the country's greatest teachers. To feel fulfilled mentally, spiritually, and financially by my job is such a gift!
