A life long athlete, Roz Malcom went to her first yoga class in 1985 hoping to mend her aching back. That first class did begin to heal her aching back and stretch capabilities and after that she was hooked! She continued attending classes, took her first workshop with the inimitable Mary Dunn and began teaching what she loved. What began as an exploration of the body expanded to something much more – a curiosity about this art of yoga.
In the fall of 1987, Roz attended the Iyengar Yoga convention in Cambridge, where she had the opportunity to be taught by many fine teachers as well as see BKS Iyengar, Patricia Walden, Manouso Manos and a cadre of other now senior teachers.
Roz has studied principally with Patricia Walden, and traveled to Pune twice to study with the Iyengar family, and has attended numerous other IYNAUS conventions. She has been teaching in the greater Boston area for over 25 years. Roz’s thoughtful use of props, and her study of yoga philosophy, enable students to access the different nuances of Iyengar Yoga. Roz Malcom is a Jr. I Iyengar teacher.
To me Yoga can provide us with a map of the body, to explore the mind, the breath and that which we can only sense; the unknown. With practice and dedication, whether eleven years old or ninety five, Yoga has the power to transform or lives—Roz Malcolm
