Meditation Offerings at Down Under Yoga
The western world has recently begun to appreciate the many benefits of mindfulness. Yoga, or asana, cultivates mindfulness through the movement of the physical body. A focused meditation practice is another path towards deepening your practice of yoga and pursuit of mindfulness.
Down Under offers classes, private sessions and a free sangha (community of practice) for both new and experienced meditation practitioners.
Guided Mindfulness Meditation: This class teaches mindfulness exercises that empower you to respond to life's demands with more ease and peace. You will learn to cultivate calm and spaciousness, joy and happiness even when things get tough. We will practice mindfulness meditation for sitting, walking, eating and other everyday life activities. Please come with a curious mind and kind heart to explore this wonderful practice. Community Mindfulness Meditation: The group begins with forty-five minutes of sitting and walking meditation, followed by readings and reflections on the art of mindful living. This community practice group is offered free of charge, and donation is welcome when freely given. We are part of a worldwide network of sanghas (communities of practice) inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese zen master, author and peace activist. Private Meditation Sessions: These one-on-one sessions with Yenkuei or Rich are tailored to your particular needs and interests. You can learn to start a home practice, request specific guided meditations, or simply have some time to ask questions. You can look deeply into the challenges of incorporating mindfulness, compassion, love, and wisdom into your daily life and relationships. You can also use the sessions to recognize and release your fears, anxieties, ill-will and other negative habit energies so that you can live life with more ease, joy and freedom.
