As a high school English teacher in Chicago Public Schools, Erika initially came to yoga to find better work-life balance. Soon after moving to Boston in 2015, she completed her 300 Hour Professional Teacher Training at Down Under and decided to leave the classroom to pursue teaching yoga full time. Since then, Erika has taught various styles of yoga in public, private, and corporate settings: Heated Power Flow in sweaty studios, Slow Flow and Hatha classes in dimly lit conference rooms, Restorative classes and Mindfulness Meditation.
Erika’s Flow classes are physically challenging, though accessible to all levels, with cueing focused on alignment and modifications to accommodate the needs of every student. Her Slow Flow classes allow time and space to pause, find stillness, and reflect on the many facets of a yoga practice. From a better understanding of alignment, the nuance of transitions, and an exploration of the subtlety of breath, Erika encourages her students to be curious about the effects of their practice on body, mind, and spirit and to also find levity even in moments of great intensity.
When not sweating and stretching, Erika enjoys downtime with her partner of thirteen years, Philip, and their cat, Matilda.
