The sangha at Down Under School of Yoga is a mindfulness meditation community gathering to practice awareness, inclusiveness, love and freedom. Although our practice is based primarily on the teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, we also draw from other spiritual teachers. Everyone is welcome.
Community Mindfulness Mediation takes place from 2PM - 3:30PM on Mondays at Down Under School of Yoga, Newton.
Please arrive ten minutes early so you can take care of your belongings, set up your chair or cushion and be ready to meditate at 2PM. When we enter the meditation room, it is helpful to take a few deep cleansing breaths and say to ourselves, “Letting go of my plans and worries. I have arrived in the here and now. I am home.” Usually 2-2:45PM will be silent meditation - sitting and walking, followed by dharma reading and sharing from 2:45-3:30PM.
If you need to come late or leave early, please do so with gentle, mindful steps so that you do not disrupt the community meditation. You may wait outside the door until walking meditation begins to enter room if you coming in late. Open and close the doors with quiet grace.
