Developed by Joseph Pilates to help injured soldiers, returning from the first World War, maintain their strength during the rehabilitation process. Pilates, believing the core to be the "powerhouse" of the body, created a system that radiates from your center to your limbs. Over the years this system has evolved, focusing on the core muscles of the low back, abdomen and hips.  

Expect to combine breath with a precise series of movements to create strength at your center, all while using utmost body control. These classes invite you to move with precision, intelligence and efficiency, rather than demanding your body to perform innumerable repetitions of one exercise. The goal is to create a strong and stable body to better serve you in daily life.

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Hannah Adams, a yogic force of nature and beloved teacher. Hannah arrives in Boston hailing from studies and teaching in India, Brazil and Peru. We are honored that she will base her powerful and lyrical flow class, her core building pilates, her demanding heated flow and her beautiful bodywork at our school. A renaissance woman and former professional salsa dancer, boxer, and healer, Hannah's vibrant, energetic and sentient teachings bring vibrancy and strength to her students. A Usui Reiki Master, with a love of Alexander technique, Hannah's yoga and mat pilates certifications mean you will be challenged to try new things and revisit old habits - expect breath, core strength and spiritual renewal!
