Taylor began his yoga practice in college, when fulfilling a class requirement left him the choice between marathon training and yoga, the decision basically made itself. Having studied and practiced Zen and Tibetan Buddhism since high school, the idea of mind body connection was not a big leap but the actual practice was revolutionary. Since then he has been totally unable to escape the world of yoga, though he has not really tried very hard either.
He completed his 200 hour training with Patty Ivey in Washington, D.C. and then, after some searching, found his home within the Ashtanga Method. He has studied with a number of renowned teachers, but he owes the most gratitude to John Bultman, with whom he studied and assisted at the University of Virginia’s Ashtanga Program, and David Garrigues, whom he travels to study with as much as possible at his shala in Philadelphia. You can find Taylor behind the desk at both studios, gardening around the city, or if you’re up early enough, in the Mysore room with Kate O’Donnell, Rich Ray, and Didi von Deck.
