Karen First discovered yoga in 2009 when looking for a solution to back problems she was experiencing due to several years of working as a hair stylist. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with yoga—not only for its physical benefits, but for its mental benefits as well. Excited to share these benefits with as many people as possible, Karen completed her 200 hour teacher training through YogaWorks in February of 2012 and received her 500 hour RYT in December 2015, studying under world-renowned yoga instructor Natasha Rizopoulos. With a focus on proper alignment and sequencing—as well as smooth transitions—Karen allows her students to get deeper into each pose so that they can get the most out of their practice. Her classes have been described as thoughtful and creative yet challenging, keeping students focused and engaged. Karen invites you to come to her class with an open mind about what your body can do so that you can learn, discover and most importantly, enjoy yourself. With constant attention being brought back to the breath, you will leave her class feeling centered and strong.
When not on her mat, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children, future yogis in the making.
In the beginning you have to make room for yoga in your daily life, and give it the place that it deserves. But after some time, yoga itself will pull you up by the hair and make you do it.—Vanda Scaravelli
